Firsts: Ice Skating
A couple of years ago, we bundled up our 2-year-old daughter, Jaymi, in warm clothing, strapped double-runner bob skates onto her winter boots, and topped her off with a huge toddler skating helmet that made her look like a pink mushroom.

Her tiny face peered out from inside all her protective gear as we held her up on her skates, her little legs wobbling. Her favorite thing was when Daddy (a former hockey player) held her under her arms, skated as fast as he could, and then swung her around so that she could just glide. When she felt safer, she leaned on him and tried to jump. But she also enjoyed simply sitting and feeling the ice.
