Chocolate Fondue

Since you're already dipping for dinner, why not go all the way and serve this chocolate fondue for dessert? When my son was 4, he used to call it "frudités" — a cross between fruit and crudités that was, come to think of it, kind of clever.
1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
1/2 cup half-and-half
1 teaspoon vanilla
Assorted cut up fruit, pound cake cubes and marshmallows (for dipping)
Melt together chocolate chips and half-and-half either by sittting in the top of a double boiler over simmering heat or by heating in microwave for a couple of minutes, stopping every 30 seconds or so to stir. Stir in vanilla, then serve.
