Umbilical Cord![]()
Newborn to 1 month
To the extent that it's possible, umbilical cord stumps should be kept clean and dry. They typically fall off within the first month of life. When they do, they can occasionally have a little associated bleeding. Any umbilical cord that is oozing, red, smelly, bleeding, or hasn't fallen off within a month, however, should be evaluated by a health care professional. Return to Ages and Stages main page |
