![]() String of Hearts
![]() This valentine has a fine wow factor; the hearts theatrically spool out of an envelope, and later you hang it, mobile-style. Best for ages 4 and up. Paint a sheet of art paper until it's covered completely. While paint is still wet, use crayons or colored pencils to scribble lines for texture. Let dry. Fold paper in half lengthwise (paint side in) and draw three hearts (whole, not on the fold), each 2 to 3 inches wide. Cut out the hearts so you end up with three unattached pairs. Cut a strand of fishing line about 20 inches long and tie a loop at one end. Glue the pairs of hearts together with the fishing line in between, spacing hearts about 4 inches apart. (It's easier if someone helps hold the line in place.) The loop should stick out of the top heart, as shown. Trim any uneven edges of the hearts. With a marker or stickers, write messages on the hearts -- BFF, I ♥ you, U R Awesome. (Don't forget to sign the back.) Stack the hearts on top of each other and stick them in an envelope with the loop showing. The hearts will create a pop-up effect when the recipient pulls them out.
