![]() Paper Bag Scrapbook
![]() The next time your family scoots off to a fab destination, have your kids collect ticket stubs, postcards, scribbled itineraries . . . anything flat, smallish or foldable, and free (or cheap) is fair game. When you get home, they can use the mementos to fill this easy-to-make scrapbook — a more meaningful souvenir than all those tchotchkes you had to pry out of their hands. Lay one unopened paper bag, smooth side up, so that the open end is to the right. From the top left edge, mark a small X 1 inch down and 1/2 inch in; do the same 1 inch up and 1/2 inch in from the bottom left edge. Punch holes through both Xs. Using this bag as a template, punch two holes through each of the remaining bags, then stack them all and thread a binder ring through each set of holes. Write the name of your destination and the dates of your trip on the front of the first bag. Then group your mementos into themes — who went, where we stayed, what we ate, adventures we had, etc. — and stuff the rest of the bag pages with the ephemera, one theme per page. Decorate each page with paper scraps, markers, and leftover mementos, if you like. Optional: To avoid souvenir spillage, punch a hole in the middle of the first and last pages, about 1/2 inch in from the open edge. Thread the ribbon through the holes, pull taut, and tie a bow. 10 lunch-size paper bags
