1. SPONSOR: Buena Vista Magazines, Inc., dba Wondertime magazine, 44 South Broadway, White Plains, NY 10601. 2. ELIGIBILITY: The qualifications to participate in this Contest require a team composed of an adult (parent, caregiver, or early childhood educator) and a child aged 12 years and younger ("Team") for a total of no more than two (2) people per Team. The term, "Contestant" as used herein means each participating Team. 3. CONTEST: The subject of this Contest is any volunteer community work project performed by a Team ("Project"). After your Team has selected and completed your Project, prepare your Contest entry materials consisting of your answers to the following 7 questions [1] Which members of your Team volunteered together? Please give names, ages, and relationships (i.e., John, 36, father, and James, 5, son), and be specific about which members of the family did what work on the Project. [2] What was the Project? Please be specific when naming the organization(s) helped. [3] How often and when did you volunteer? (i.e., "twice a month in July and August" or "three hours on the first Saturday of every month"). [4] Approximately how many hours per person in all of 2007 were spent volunteering on this particular Project? Please individually list each person and his or her total volunteer hours. [5] What is your name and e-mail address, (which will be used only for the purposes of contacting you regarding the Contest)? [6] What was special about the experience of volunteering with a child? [7] How did your volunteer work benefit others and/or improve the community or world you live in? [8] What did your volunteer work teach both you and your child? (collectively, "Contest Materials"). Your answers to each of questions [6], [7] and [8] must not exceed one hundred fifty (150) words. 4. ENTRY: Enter the Contest at http://wondertime.go.com/contest/littlest-volunteers/ by submitting the Contest Materials ("Entry"). 5. LIMITATIONS: Contestants must respond fully to all 8 questions in order for Entries to be considered valid. All Entries must be received by February 28, 2009. Only one entry per Team. Entries must be the original work of the Team, must not infringe upon third party rights, nor previously have won awards or been published. Open only to Teams who are legal residents of, and physically located within, the 50 states, the District of Columbia, or Canada (excluding Quebec) ("Territory"). Employees of Sponsor, HandsOn Network, their respective parent, subsidiary, and affiliated companies; the advertising, promotional and fulfillment agencies of each of them (individually and collectively, "Entities"); members of their immediate families and members of their households, are ineligible. Neither the Entities, nor any of their officers, directors, shareholders, employees, agents or representatives (individually and collectively, "Releasees") are responsible for Entries from Families residing, or physically located, outside the Territory; Entries that are altered, delayed, deleted, destroyed, fraudulent, inaccurate, incomplete, interrupted, late, lost, misdirected, multiple, non-delivered, stolen, tampered with, unauthorized or unintelligible; any printing, production, technical, electronic, or other errors; or for lost, interrupted, or unavailable network, server, or other connections; miscommunications; failed phone, computer hardware or software, or telephone transmissions; technical failures; unauthorized human intervention; traffic congestion; garbled or jumbled transmissions; undeliverable emails resulting from any form of active or passive email filtering; insufficient space in Contestant's email account to receive email; or other errors of any kind, whether due to electronic, mechanical or human error or other causes; even if caused by the negligence of any of the Releasees. Each of such potential Entries will be disqualified. Void where prohibited or restricted by law and subject to all applicable federal, state, provincial, local and municipal laws and regulations. 6. AWARDS: Three (3) Grand Prize Awards: One (1) donation of $5,000 by the Sponsor to a winning Team's favorite 501 (c) 3 charitable organization or public school ("Charity"). Ten (10) First Place Awards: One (1) donation of $1,000 by the Sponsor to a winning Team's favorite 501 (c) 3 charitable organization or public school ("Charity"). Recognition Awards: One (1) Wondertime's Littlest Volunteers certificate (ARV: $0) to each eligible Team participating in the Contest. Total value of all awards: $25,000. No substitution allowed, except, at Sponsor's sole discretion, an award of equal or greater value may be substituted. All awards will be given provided a sufficient number of eligible Entries are received. 7. PROCEDURES: Contest begins September 23, 2008, and ends February 28, 2009. On or before May 1, 2009, Entries will be judged by Sponsor and HandsOn Network, who will select the potential winners on the basis of creativity, impact on the Charity or community and impact on the Team. 8. WINNERS: The potential winners will be announced in the November 2009 issue of Wondertime magazine and notified on or about June 1, 2009. All legal responsibilities of a Team under these Official Rules ("Rules") will be assumed by the adult member of the Team. Disqualification and the selection of an alternate winner may result from any of the following: [1] potential winner's failure to respond to notification within ten (10) days after its mailing; [2] the return of any notice, donation or award as undeliverable; [3] failure of potential winner's Charity to claim its award within ten (10) days after it is sent; [4] potential winner's failure to designate a proper Charity and [5] any other non-compliance with Rules. CONDITIONS: Each Team by entering this Contest agrees that: [1] Team will abide by and be bound by the Rules and the Sponsor's decisions; [2] Team irrevocably assigns and transfers to Sponsor and its assigns all rights in the Entry, including, without limitation, all copyrights; [3] the Entry will not be acknowledged or returned; [4] Team grants to the Sponsor and its assigns the right to publish, use, adapt, edit, and/or modify the Entry in any way and in any and all media, without limitation, and without consideration or acknowledgment to the Team; [5] the Releasees are not responsible for claims, injuries, losses, or damages of any kind resulting, in whole or in part, directly or indirectly, from the awarding, delivery, acceptance, use, misuse, possession, loss, or misdirection of any donation or award; participation in this Contest or in any activity or travel related thereto or from any interaction with, or downloading of, computer Contest information; [6] Team's acceptance of an award constitutes the grant of an unconditional right to Sponsor and assigns to use Team members' names, addresses (city and state or province only), voices, likenesses, photographs, biographical, and award information and/or statements about the promotion for any publicity, advertising, and promotional purposes without additional compensation, except where prohibited by law; [7] any portion of any award not accepted or used by any Charity will be forfeited and [8] the Releasees are not responsible for any inability of any Charity to accept or use any award (or any portion thereof) for any reason. |
